Form, Space, and Media
Wire, Plaster, and Acrylic Paint
Wire
Project: Create a form out of wire two times. Cover one of the forms in plaster and paint; leave the other form out of wire.
This project challenged me in so many ways. This was only my second time working with wire and my first time working with plaster. Through creating the first form, I learned more beginner ways to work the wire that helped me in developing the second form.
Mass VS Volume
Nevelson Inspired Wall-Hanging
Plywood, wood stain (red, yellow, and blue)
Project:Project: 5 part project where each piece is demonstrating a different type of balance. Part 1 and 2 had to be sister pieces inspired by Louise Nevelson. (This is Part 1)
Something that stood out to me through Louise Nevelson’s works is how she creates work inside of box-like forms. I wanted to bring this through into my work. I also wanted to have a balance between organic and geometric forms. This is another one of my first works with wood.
Plywood, stain (blue, red, and yellow, and wood glue
Project: 5 part project where each piece is demonstrating a different type of balance. Part 1 and 2 had to be sister pieces inspired by Louise Nevelson. (This is Part 2)
This was the first time that I had worked with wood. It definitely was a different kind of challenge. I think I enjoyed staining it the most. I chose primary colors because it is the first of my works with wood as the medium. I tried to show that as well as a balance through the colors.
All pieces of this work are cut outs from the sister piece, Nevelson inspired wall-hanging.
